We're excited to have a new EP, and very glad that we can give it away for free. Cold Cold Night is five songs we recorded in 2009 at home. We made this EP through several short recording sessions throughout the year, and it was the first time we didn't feature any guest musicians (everything on the album is performed by Helen Kuan and Jack Jamieson).

While we've approached our other recordings with a schedule and specific goals, Cold Cold Night was made much more casually. We tried some new things and ended up with a more natural and raw album than we've done in the past.

Also, we're pleased to have a new music video, this one for "Searchlights 1" from Sirens:

Splice Productions was kind enough to make this video for us for free, and they did an amazing job. We can't thank them enough for their hard work.

In case you missed it the first time, we also have a video for "The Longest Year" that we shot about a year ago.

Lastly, on a personal note, I (Jack) am going to be away in Japan for a year, so Karma Controllers will be on a break until I get back. It's going to be a drag being away from Toronto, but should be an exciting year abroad. I can't imagine that I'll get through the year without recording at least a few songs in Japan, so expect some new music later this year.

Also, I'll keep on writing about Japanese music at, so drop by there to discover some new bands from Japan.
